YELLOW VEST DEMONSTRATIONS IN FRANCE
Weekly demonstrations in France which started to resist planned fuel tax increases have generated a Movement of protesters who are identified with the Yellow Vest they wear during protests nation wide. Yellow Vest Movement demonstrations have taken place four saturdays now. With many arrested by French Police for wanton destruction of properties. Some citizens have died and many wounded. Though the Macron government has suspended expected fuel tax increases the demonstrators are unsatisfied. They demand far reaching changes in policies. To make life better and reduce poverty. Yesterday president Macron responded to demands of Yellow Vest Movement. In a Radio and TV appearance. He admitted economic challenges facing the peoples. Macron called for dialogue instead of violent protests as necessary for resolving issues raised by demonstrators. Minimum wage of over 15 million French Workers is to be increased by 8 % according the president in his broadcast to the nation. Other measures aimed at poverty reduction were also announced. Some are happy and others not so enthusiatic about measures to meet part of what protesters want. Government had earlier accused the Movement of anti government activities. That are under leadership enemies of Macron. Who are determined to hijack discontent and economic hardships to overthrow the Macron government. School children , bus drivers and ordinary workers have been deeply involved in the Saturday Marches against perceived insensitivity of government to plight of the poor. Far right and far left of centre elements are at the forefront of weekly agitations all over France. It remains to be seen if tempers are going to go down after Macron Speech to the nation. And next Saturday may not see another Yellow Vest nation wide demonstrations , violence and chaos.
